ASFSO Exam Syllabus 2014
Fire & Emergency Services, Assam had recently invited application to fill up the posts of Sub-Officer, Fireman and Emergency Rescuer. ASFSO will adopt an appropriate selection procedure under this recruitment process and conduct a competitive Examination and interview for direct recruitment of Sub-Officer and Fireman.
Notice : Candidates who applied for this competitive Examination must have to prepare perfectly to clear this examination and being select for the post. Most of the candidates are ignorant about scheme of exam and its prescribed syllabus. But, nothing about to worry here we are going to discuss the pattern of written test and its syllabus under selection procedure prescribed by Fire & Emergency Services, Assam.
Exam Pattern : Scheme of Examination of Sub-Officer and Fireman & Emergency Rescuer Exam is as follows :
► The written will be multiple choice objective type.
► The question paper will contain 80 marks.
► The time duration will be 02:00 hours (120 minutes).

For the Posts of Sub-Officer
Physics : Universe, General Scientific Laws, Scientific Instruments, Inventions and discoveries, National Scientific laboratories, Science glossary, Mechanics and properties of matter, Physical quantities, standards and units, Force, Motion and energy, Electricity and magnetism, electronics & communications, Heat, Light and sound, Atomic and Nuclear physics, Solid state Physics, Spectroscopy, Geophysics, Astronomy and space science.
Chemistry : Elements and Compounds, Acids, bases and salts, Oxidation and reduction, Chemistry of Ores and Metals, Carbon, nitrogen and their compounds, Fertilizers, pesticides, insecticides-Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Electrochemistry, Polymers and plastics.
Mathematics : The test of Arithmetical and Numerical abilities will cover Number Systems including questions on Simplification, Decimals, Fractions, L.C.M., H.C.F., Ratio & Proportion, Percentage, Average, Profit & Loss, Discount, Simple & Compound Interest, Mensuration, Time & Work, Time & Distance, Tables & Graphs, etc.
English : Spot the Error, Fill in the Blanks, Synonyms/Homonyms, Antonyms, Spellings/Detecting Mis-spelt words, Idioms & Phrases, One word substitution, Improvement of Sentences, Active/Passive Voice of Verbs, Conversion into Direct/Indirect narration, Shuffling of Sentence parts, Shuffling of Sentences in a passage, Cloze Passage, Comprehension Passage.
General Knowledge : History, Geography and Socio Economic development of Himachal Pradesh. Knowledge of current events of National and International importance and such matters of every day observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person who has not made a special study of any scientific subject. Paper will also include questions on Modern History (From 1857 onwards) of India, Indian culture, Indian Polity, Indian Economy, Geography of India.
For the Posts of Fireman and Emergency Rescuer
General Knowledge : History, Geography and Socio Economic development of Himachal Pradesh. Knowledge of current events of National and International importance and such matters of every day observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person who has not made a special study of any scientific subject. Paper will also include questions on Modern History (From 1857 onwards) of India, Indian culture, Indian Polity, Indian Economy, Geography of India.
Aptitude/Intelligence : The questions will be of 10th Standard and would include both verbal and nonverbal type. The test may include questions on analogues, similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discrimination observation, relationship concept, figure classification, arithmetical number series, verbal and non-verbal series and mathematics of 10th standard. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, mathematical computation and other analytical functions.
