Himachal Pradesh Forest Department is going to recruit Forest Guard (Vanrakshak). Candidates who applied against these posts surely having a question in their mind that what will be the selection process for this recruitment. Physical Test
Physical Standards :
Male | Female | Note | |
Height | 165 cms | 150 cms | relaxation of 05 cms for ST candidates |
Chest | 79-84 cms | 74-79 cms | relaxation of 04 cms for ST candidates |
Those candidates fulfill the above physical standards only they will qualify for PET. Physical Efficiency Test, comprising of the following qualifying test shall be conducted in the sequence given below.

Written Test
Exam Pattern :- Scheme of HP Forest Guard written test will be :
► The written test will be multiple choice objective type.
► A question paper will carry 85 questions of 85 marks.
► The duration of test will be 01:15 hours (75 minutes).
► There will also be an Interview of 15 marks.
Exam Syllabus :- Syllabus of Himachal Forest Guard exam is :
English & Hindi language : In this part, questions related to Knowledge of Hindi language and writing ability will be asked.
General Science : Simple questions from physics, nature, chemistry and biology.
Mathematics : Number systems, Computation of whole numbers, Decimals and fractions, Relationship between numbers, Fundamental Arithmetical operations, Percentages, Ration and Proportion, Profit and Loss, Simple Interest, Average, Discount, Partnership, Time & Work, Time & Distance , Use of Tables and Graphs, Mensuration
General Awareness about forests, Environment and Wildlife.
General Knowledge : This part is to assess the candidates’ ability regarding general knowledge about his/her surroundings and about its use in society. In this test such a question which will be kept to check current events and everyday science and the facts of experience which may include historical and geographical facts. (Specially Related to India) and judged them to the knowledge of the scientific aspects, which can be expected of any educated person.
Reasoning and Aptitude : The purpose of this is the ability to test the candidate’s understanding of a new situation, analyze and identify its various elements. Questions in this test will be based on the Understanding and explore instructions, relationships, similarities, consistent, conclusions and actions etc.
