Note: Before start of physical efficiency test (PET) and physical standard test (PST) the candidates will undergo verification of identity including Biometric capture.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
The events of the PET are as follows:-
For Male Candidates | |
i) Race 1.6 Kms | To be completed within 7.30 Minutes. |
ii) 11 Feet long Jump | 03 Chances to be given) |
iii) 3 ½ Feet High Jump | 03 Chances to be given) |
For Female Candidates | |
i) Race 800 Meters | To be completed within 4.45 Minutes. |

Note: The Departmental candidate who has qualified PET at the time of their appointment in the Force and Ex – servicemen are not required to appear in the PET. However they will be required to pass the requisite PST, Documentation, Written Test, and Medical Examination.
Physical Standard Test (PST)
Candidates found eligible in PET will be screened for height, chest measurement (for male candidates only) and weight.

Checking Of Documents (Documentation)
The testimonials of candidates, who qualify the PST, will be checked by the Board. The candidates will be required to produce the original documents related to Educational qualifications, date of birth etc.
Written Exam
Exam Pattern: The Exam Pattern Will be as Follows:
- The written test will consist of OMR based objective type multiple choice questions.
- Questions to be answered using a Blue or Black Ball pen only; or Computer based objective type multiple choice questions at the discretion of ITBP.
- Question Paper Will be of 100 Marks/ Questions.
- Pattern of question paper will be as under:-

Exam Syllabus: The Exam Syllabus Will be as Follows:
General English:- Verb, preposition, adverb, subject verb agreement, Error Correction/ recognition, tenses, sentences rearrangement, fill in the blanks with articles etc., comprehension, answering questions based on unseen passage, vocabulary, synonyms and antonyms usage, vocabulary & grammar, Proficiency in the language.
General Hindi:- वर्तनी की सामान्य अशुद्धियाँ तथा शब्दों के शब्द रूप, शब्दों के स्त्रीलिंग, बहुवचन, किसी वाक्य को अन्य लिंग में परिवर्तन, मुहावरा व उनका अर्थ, अशुद्ध वाक्यों के शुद्ध रूप, विलोमार्थी शब्द, समानार्थी व पर्यायवाची शब्द, अनेक शब्दों के लिए एक शब्द, कहावतें व लोकोक्तियां के अर्थ, संधि विच्छेद, क्रिया से भाववाचक संज्ञा बनाना, रचना एवं रचयिता इत्यादि|
General Awareness:- Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidates general awareness of the environment around him. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of every day observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity, Indian Constitution, scientific Research etc. These Questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.
Quantitative Aptitude Test:- This paper will include questions on problems relating to Number Systems, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions and relationship between Numbers, Fundamental arithmetical operations, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Ratio and Time, Time and Work, etc.
Simple Reasoning:- This component may include questions on Ranking & Order, Blood Relataion,analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, etc.
Detailed Medical Examination
Candidates shortlisted in order of merit as per category wise number of vacancies will be put through DME to assess their fitness as per rules.
Review Medical Examination (RME)
In case candidates declared unfit in detailed medical examination are not satisfied with the findings of the Medical Officer, they may submit an application for his/her Review – Medical Examination with a duly filled Medical Fitness 10 certificate within 15 days from the date of his/her rejection in DME. The medical certificate will not be taken into consideration unless it is signed and stamped by the Medical Practitioner and the photo & signature of the candidate has not been attested and stamped by the Medical Practitioner.
