Preliminary Test (Qualyfing Nature) : For Civil Court Clerk, Stenographer & Court Reader-Cum-Deposition Writer Posts
The Committee may Organize Preliminary Test on the Basis of Multiple Choice Objective Questions for Screening Test Candidates, Depending upon the Number of Candidates Applying for the Post. Syllabus/Subjects Provided for the Written Examination.

Minimum Qualifying Marks in Written Exam :
The Minimum Qualifying marks will be 40% in the Written Examination. The Category wise Cut-Off Marks Shall be Decided by the Committee in accordance Reservation Policy. Existing Rules and Number of Vacancies.
Additional Weightage Marks For Peon/Orderly Posts : Additional Weightage up to Ten(10) Marks Would be Given to Persons, Who Possess Special Skill In Cooking or as an Electrician, Carpenter, Barber, Plumber and Gardener and have not obtained Qualifying Marks.
Skill Test For Bihar Civil Court Stenographer Posts
There Shall be a Skill Test along with the Written Examination in the Following Manner:

- The Computer Proficiency Test Shall be be To Assess Knowledge of Candidate About M.S. Word, M.S. Excel, Internet Surfing Skills.
- The Speed / Proficiency Of the Candidates Shall Be Tested on the Criteria as Laid Down in Schedule ‘A’ of the Rules, Which is Provided as Shorthand – 80 wpm in English and 60 wpm in Hindi (Only 5% Mistake Shall be admissible) and Typing 40 wpm in English and 30 wpm in Hindi.
Minimum Qualifying Standard for the Posts of Stenographer in Skill Test :

- English Language and Grammar : Letter Writing, Essay, Precis, Comprehension and Vocabulary.
- Hindi Language and Grammar : – Consisting of Letter Writing, Essay, Precis, Comprehension and Vocabulary.
- General Knowledge and Current Affairs : In this section questions will be based on History, Civics, Geography, Everyday Science, Constitution of India, Legal Terminology. –
- Mathematics of matriculation standard : The test shall comprise questions on topics viz. BODMAS, Simple Calculations, Problem based on Time and Distance, Time and Work, Calculation of Simple/Compound Interest, Ration and Proportion.
- Test of Reasoning (Verbal and Analytical type): –Problems based on English alphabets, Sitting Arrangement, Blood relationship, Circular Sitting arrangement, Analogy Test, Ranking Test, Syllogism, Problems based on Venn-diagram.
- Basic Computer Science : History of Computers, Fundamentals of Computer and terminologies, Computer abbreviations, Basis of Hardware and Software, Keyboard shortcuts, Operating system basics, Basic Functionalities of MS-Office (Word, Excel and Power-Point), Internet terms and services, Networking and communication, Security Tools and Viruses.
Interview (10 Marks) : For All Civil Court’s Posts
All the Qualified Candidates in Pre / Written / Skill Test Will be Called For Interview Round. The Interview will be of 10 marks.
