About Tamil Nadu TET :-

Teachers Recruitment Board Has invited Online Applications for Teacher Eligibility Test, Paper I and Paper II for the year 2022 from the eligible candidates in Tamil Nadu. In accordance with the provisions of sub-section (1) of section 23 of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 (RTE Act), the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has vide Notifications dated 23rd August 2010, 29th July 2011 and 28th June 2018 laid down the minimum qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher in classes I to VIII. It had been inter alia provided that one of the essential qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher in any of the schools referred to in clause (n) of section 2 of the RTE Act is that he / she should pass the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) which will be conducted by the appropriate Government in accordance with the guidelines framed by the NCTE.

TNTET Exam :-

Teachers Recruitment Board will conduct the two examination for Teacher Eligibility Test. The questions in the TET Paper I will be based on the topics of the prescribed syllabus of the State for Classes I – V but their difficulty level as well as linkages will be up to the Secondary Stage. The questions in the test Paper-II will be based on the topics of the prescribed syllabus of the State for Classes VI-VIII but their difficulty level as well as linkages will be up to the Senior Secondary (Higher Secondary) Stage.

Note:-

(a) Child Development and pedagogy will focus on Educational Psychology of Teaching and Learning, relevant to the age group of 6 – 11 years.

(b) Language I will focus on the proficiencies related to the Medium of Instruction.The candidate has to choose any one of the languages mentioned in Sl.No.(ii) above in Paper-I table. For recruitment process candidates shall be eligible for the vacancies in the concerned medium only.

(c) Language II English will focus on the elements of language, communication and comprehension abilities.

(d) Mathematics and Environmental Studies will focus on the concepts, problem solving abilities and pedagogical understanding of these subjects.

(e) The questions in the TET Paper I will be based on the topics of the prescribed syllabus of the State for Classes I – V but their difficulty level as well as linkages will be up to the Secondary Stage.

Note:-

General Information :-

  1. Candidates who have secured 60% and above in the TNTET (Paper-I/ Paper-II) Examination will be issued with TNTET (Paper-I/ Paper-II) Pass Certificate. However relaxation of 5% marks will be given to BC, BC(M), MBC/DNC, SC, SC(A), ST and Person with Disability Candidates.
  2. TET Certificate will be valid for 7 (seven) years.
  3. Mere holding of a TET certificate does not confer any right to appointment as it is only one of the eligibility criteria for appointment.
  4. As per G.O.(Ms)No.149, School Education (TRB) Department dated 20.07.2018, TET qualified candidates has to appear for a separate competitive examination related to recruitment.
